The CPC30720 Certificate III in Rigging traineeship is designed for individuals seeking a structured pathway into the high-risk construction and lifting industry.
Throughout this qualification, you will develop a strong foundation in site safety, risk management, workplace communication, and industry-standard operating procedures required on major construction projects.
This program combines nationally recognised core units with specialised rigging and dogging competencies, equipping you with the technical skills and practical knowledge required to perform lifting operations safely and efficiently.
Due to the high-risk nature of rigging work, the qualification places a strong emphasis on:
Hazard identification and control
Safe lifting and load movement
Working at heights and around electrical services
Interpretation of plans and lift documentation
Effective communication within crane and lifting crew
Delivered under a traineeship model, students gain real-world experience while completing formal training, ensuring competency in both theory and practical application.
This qualification prepares you for employment in commercial construction, infrastructure projects, crane operations, shutdown work, and major civil developments.
However, due to the technical and safety-critical nature of rigging work, students must possess an adequate level of Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills to successfully complete training and assessment requirements.
Participants must be able to:
Read and interpret workplace documentation, plans, and safety procedures
Communicate effectively within a lifting team environment
Perform calculations relating to measurements, load weights, and basic rigging mathematics
Complete written and practical assessment tasks
All students will complete a pre-enrolment review to ensure the qualification is suitable for their individual skill level and employment circumstances.
Assessment is based on competency (the ability to demonstrate specific skills), depending on delivery, may be undertaken through a combination of observation and discussion, case studies and written assignments.
Recognition & Credit
If you already have relevant industry experience or prior training, you may not need to complete all components of this qualification.
